The Levels of Sin
The Four Levels of Sin

Commentary from the Editor

The belief in God is not through logic, but by pure faith and this is an undeniable truth. And Hell is most certainly the opposite of Heaven. There has been debate by scholars, pastors and theologians over the levels of reward in Heaven. Know this that God is a just God not just here on earth - but most importantly in Heaven. However, Hell is the opposite of Heaven so it can be determined through logic the levels of sin and punishment in Hell…

The levels of sin are a simple logical hierarchy. There is personal sin and also sin that one commits that harms another. I ask which is worse, to harm yourself or to harm another? Certainly- if you harm someone it is far worse a transgression than when you only harm yourself.

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Matthew 7:12

Christian leaders do have a higher responsibility to those that they lead. God will hold them more accountable. The pastor of a church has more responsibility in the eyes of God - than the man sitting the first pew.

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:1-2

The levels of sin from the lowest to highest are as follows:

Sin of a personal nature that harms you personally arising from individual weakness or premeditation.... the seven deadly sins- sloth, gluttony, envy, pride...

Sin of a personal nature that harms others arising from individual weakness or premeditation. The Ten Commandments- thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not kill, honor thy father and thy mother...

Sin by leaders of the church that harms the church arising from individual weakness or premeditation. A pastor steals from his church…

Sin by leaders of the church or those in authority that harms others or leads others to their sin arising from individual weakness or premeditation. A pastor commits adultery with a member of his church…

However - there is a paradox to the levels of sin and it is this... the greatest sin is the rejection of God's love - the rejection of Jesus. Without a belief in God, it is the greatest sin, because it is if you have never been born. Once born - you sin and there is a hierarchy of sin not meant for Heaven- but for Hell...

"Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come. Matthew 12:31-32
